MUESLI RECIPE

(March 2012)

A nutritious and delicious balanced meal to start the day and nutritionally superior to most of what present mankind consumes. This muesli recipe is a scientifically improved version of the original one compiled by Ruth Bircher one of the founders of the Bircher Benner Clinic.

By adding a little more water and then liquidising it makes an excellent baby food after a lengthy period of breast feeding.

This mix should satisfy most individual’s so-called hunger if consumed slowly and deliberately. By far the majority of persons partaking of this muesli find no desire for any further food for at least fours hours and more. Why because it does not have ingredients with high concentrations of acidic compounds in them.

The various mixes have been designed to cover all nutritional requirements for different climatic conditions and is easy on the digestive tract of persons of any age. The only time there would be a reaction to this delicious and nutritious muesli would be in the case of a person needing serious health care/attention and even then it is highly unlikely.

The author has lived on this mix only for months (at least three once) doing manual labour for 10 to 12 hours a day, day in and day out. In the beginning eating the first meal at 10am and following a shower in the late afternoon another meal at 6pm. The last month of this experiment only having one meal in the afternoon between 3 and 4 pm after my shower.

I definitely know one would be well served to partake of food only once in the day.

However when was has finally returned mankind's natural diet of tree ripened fruits then one eats only when attracted to do so by smell.

It is always advantageous to have at least three hours of physical activity before you partake of your first meal, in this case the muesli. It does not matter what dietary regime you are follow whether conventional, lacto-vegetarian or vegan one would be far better nourished partaking of these muesli recipes instead of any of the porridges or commercial muesli.

  • A wedge of fresh lemon
  • One to two tablespoons of top quality fat free yoghurt

Preferably fresh almonds, macadamias, pecans, walnuts or hazel (filbert) which ever grows in your climatic conditions. Definitely not cashews or peanuts (toxic legume)

Preparation as per Summer recipe

GENERAL

When intending to take to work to eat at morning break (10am ideally - at least 4 hours after rising) place in a container small enough to fill to brim then seal with cover. When and if possible rather grate in apple just before eating.

Not the best, but if you wish to add another dimension to the muesli, then add a sliced well ripened banana before adding the grated apples to the mix

Note:- no lemon used in winter mix. The Author normally does not recommend the consumption of oats at any time but this an exception to the rule because one can rarely be able to buy fully ripened fresh apples. The little oats gives the body a little extra carbohydrates to make up for deficiency in the apples.

However if you have access to fully mature fresh apples then it would be better then to leave out the oats.

SUGGESTIONS

One may in the beginning prefer to leave out the kelp. It is also okay to increase or decrease slightly the quantity of honey, lemon juice and yoghurt. One can also bulk up the mix by adding and additional apple and also a proportionate amount of oats and in the lot colder days in winter one can add up to 50 grams of the ground nuts. Zyliss a Swiss manufacturer of kitchen equipment made an excellent little hand grinder and a grinder with a suction base to fit on a bench. The Author purchased three of the hand grinders in 1983 gave two away as gifts and the one I kept for myself. It is still doing a reasonable job of grinding nuts.

WHAT EVER YOU MAY THINK OF DOING DO NOT BY DO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING.

Never use milk instead of yoghurt

Never use fruit juice instead of water

Never use sugar in mix

Don’t drink or eat ANYTHING else before or AFTER consuming for at least two to three hours

DON’T EVEN BEGIN TO THINK OF ADDING ANY OTHER SEEDS TO THE MIX. NUTS ARE THE ONLY SEEDS MANKIND WAS DEVELOPED TO EAT OTHER THAN THE SMALL SEEDS IN FRUITS.
